The shift from the proof of work to proof of stake during the Merge was a pivotal moment, laying the groundwork for innovations such as Layer-2 solutions, Account Abstraction, and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs).

Devcon SEA underscored Ethereum’s potential for real-world applications, with DeFi and stablecoins leading the way. Innovations in second-generation cryptographic primitives, such as fully homomorphic encryption and multi-party computation, are paving the way for decentralized, privacy-preserving computation, enabling novel use cases.
