Injective (INJ)launches Altaris mainnet upgrade, promising enhanced scalability, new developer tools, and improved economic structure.
The blockchain landscape is set for a significant transformation as Injective (INJ)unveils its Altaris mainnet upgrade. This upgrade promises to redefine Injective’s capabilities, enhancing scalability, developer tools, and economic frameworks.
Background
The Altaris upgrade was initiated following the community’s overwhelming support for Injective Improvement Proposal 420 (IIP-420). The proposal saw one of the highest rates of governance participation in Injective’s history, with over $1 billion worth of staked INJ used to vote in favor.
Altaris follows the Volan upgrade launched in January 2024, aiming to provide the most optimized and advanced version of Injective to date. At its core, Altaris offers significant improvements in scalability, performance, and developer tools.
Key Upgrades
Enhanced Scalability
The Altaris upgrade incorporates optimizations designed to accelerate chain speed and overall performance. Improved data handling and resource management contribute to a more robust and responsive system, enhancing chain-level consensus flexibility and developer experience.
WASM 2.0 Integration
With the introduction of WASM 2.0 support, developers can now create more sophisticated decentralized applications. This upgrade expands smart contract capabilities, providing tools necessary for building the next generation of innovative dApps on Injective.
Enriched Interoperability
Altaris integrates IBC hooks and Packet Forward Middleware (PFM) to boost cross-chain capabilities, allowing Injective to seamlessly interact with other blockchains. This enhances the overall utility and flexibility of the Injective ecosystem, opening up new possibilities for cross-chain applications and collaborations.
Developer Toolkit Upgrade
Updates to the Python, Go, and TypeScript SDKs support the Altaris chain version, enhancing developer capabilities. Additionally, the Injective-proto repository is updated with new proto definitions for seamless integration, providing developers with more robust tools for creating sophisticated applications.
Universal Burn Auction
This new feature allows developers to create and launch pool auction contracts, enabling community-driven participation in the burn auction process. INJ will be included in the auction basket, promoting a more dynamic and deflationary token economy.
VIP Discount Structure
A tiered VIP fee discount schedule has been implemented for DEXs across Injective, offering steeper discounts at lower thresholds and reducing the maximum fee rate for all markets on Injective from 10% to 5% or lower.
Stake Grants
This innovative mechanism allows users to leverage stake from other community members to meet staking requirements for benefits across the ecosystem. This promotes a more collaborative environment, encouraging greater participation and engagement across the network.
Security and User Experience Improvements
Injective Bridge Updates
The Injective Bridge has been strengthened for better performance, security, and reliability. New messages and mechanisms increase the efficiency of updates to the Injective Bridge.
Ledger Hardware Wallet Support
Ledger hardware wallet support has been seamlessly integrated via CLI, providing users with a secure and convenient transaction option.
Advanced Market and Trading Features
