Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4.5 Integrated into GitHub Copilot

Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 4.5 is now generally available in GitHub Copilot, according to The GitHub Blog. This release allows Copilot Enterprise, Copilot Business, Copilot Pro, and Copilot Pro+ customers to access the advanced model across multiple platforms, including GitHub.com, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse.

Access and Integration

Users can access Claude Sonnet 4.5 through the GitHub Copilot Chat, utilizing the chat model picker in agent, ask, or edit modes. The integration aims to streamline coding processes by providing advanced AI-driven assistance across various development environments. Administrators for Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise must enable the new policy to allow organizational access, facilitating the model’s integration into existing workflows.

For individual users, enabling Claude Sonnet 4.5 is straightforward. Users can select the model in the supported IDE’s model picker and confirm a one-time prompt to gain access.
