The long-awaited move has finally happened: Virtuals Protocol is now officially live on the Ethereum mainnet. After previously establishing a foothold on the Layer 2 Base network, the protocol is now stepping onto a bigger stage—Ethereum. More than just a move-in, its entry into the Ethereum ecosystem opens up a world of AI agents that run entirely on the blockchain, without human intervention.

So what exactly makes this launch so exciting? Virtuals Protocol is no ordinary platform. It allows anyone to build AI agents that live on the blockchain, perform autonomous tasks, and even make transactions on their own. In a way, we’re looking at a future where virtual characters can not only chat, but also have crypto wallets, buy things, and act as if they have their own brains.
Building Pop Stars and Game Characters With No Code
In March, according to a CNF report, Virtuals Protocol introduced the Agent Commerce Protocol (ACP), a system that allows agents to interact without the need for human supervision.
Through ACP, these agents can not only chat with each other, but also manage their wallets, earnings, and resources independently. If you imagine it like the real world, it’s similar to a robot waiter who can collect his own salary, shop for necessities, and then go back to work—all without a human telling him to do so.
Interestingly, last May, Web3 expert M. Neslişah Suiçmez cited Virtuals as a living example of the integration of AI agents and blockchain.
She mentioned the potential for communities to collectively own and manage AI agents that can transform into “AI pop stars” or game characters with personalities and can directly interact with players. The imagination is wild, but not impossible. Now, you can not only be a fan of characters, but also become their “manager” and investor.
On the other hand, the AI agent trend is also growing outside the Web3 world. Also in late May, the company SoundHound AI teamed up with Allina Health to introduce an AI agent called “Alli.”
This agent works as a healthcare assistant who can answer patient calls, schedule appointments, and even access electronic medical records systems. So if it used to take a long time to get to the doctor, now everything can be expedited by a digital voice that knows what to do.
Open Access, Rising Token: Virtuals Protocol Hits Its Stride
It’s not just the technology that’s intriguing. The protocol’s native token, VIRTUAL, is also shining. In the past 24 hours, the token’s price has been hovering around $2.04, up around 6%. Some analysts believe that if the price can break through $2.30, it will pave the way for a bigger increase. It’s like a snowball effect—once the momentum comes, everyone gets pushed along.
Furthermore, the protocol has also just opened its V1 beta to everyone. No more invitations, whitelists, or restricted access. Anyone can now try building their own agent. Whether it’s a game character, a virtual trader, or even an AI that can help manage personal finances—the choice is in the hands of the user.
