With this, Shiba Inu has launched ShibDAO. This is a platform that will motivate the community, usually termed “Shibizens,” to actively participate in decision-making processes, ensuring that the project’s future aligns with the collective vision of its supporters. Shibarium updates announced this on an X post and described this as “a major step toward real decentralization across the SHIB ecosystem.”
Key Features of ShibDAO
BONE, LEASH, and TREAT are all utility tokens within the Shiba Inu ecosystem. BONE is the governance token, used to pay transaction fees on Shibarium, the Layer-2 blockchain built for Shiba Inu. Users can earn BONE through liquidity mining and staking. LEASH is a limited-supply utility of only 107,646 tokens, making it the rarest asset in the ecosystem. On the other hand, TREAT is a future reward and utility token that supports dApp development in the Metaverse.
Under ShibDAO, the report reads that, “ This system gives voice and power to the community: On-Chain Staking (Bury 2.0): Stake SHIB, BONE, LEASH, or TREAT to gain influence. The more & longer you stake, the more voting power you earn.” The system incentivizes long-term commitment; the more and longer tokens are staked, the greater the voting influence a participant gains.
Proposals and gasless voting will be facilitated through Snapshot, a popular platform for off-chain governance. Votes are calculated in real-time based on on-chain staking data, creating a seamless bridge between staking and governance participation. For those unable to vote directly, ShibDAO allows users to delegate their voting power to trusted community leaders. Delegated power can be reclaimed at any time, offering flexibility and control.
The DAO Factory enables anyone in the community to launch their own DAO by claiming a Shib Name. Whether the goal is to build games, support DeFi protocols, fund public goods, or create art collectives, the factory allows innovation to thrive within a decentralized framework.
ShibDAO has also introduced a multi-DAO architecture, with different DAOs overseeing segments of the ecosystem. Bone DAO is responsible for overseeing upgrades to the Shibarium blockchain and reviewing developer proposals, ensuring the network evolves based on community needs, while Leash DAO serves as the governance dispute resolution body, providing a decentralized arbitration mechanism to address conflicts.
