Indian manufacturers leverage NVIDIA Omniverse and AI to enhance factory efficiency and planning. Key players like Ola Electric and Reliance Industries lead the charge in digital twin technology.
In a significant technological advancement, Indian manufacturers are increasingly adopting NVIDIA’s Omniverse platform to create digital twins and harness generative AI, according to the NVIDIA Blog. This strategic move aims to enhance factory planning and automation, contributing to more efficient operations in various sectors.
India’s Manufacturing Surge
India’s manufacturing sector has witnessed a remarkable surge in exports, positioning the nation as a potential global manufacturing powerhouse. With industries such as automotive, electronics, and pharmaceuticals leading the charge, India aims to boost its exports to $1 trillion by 2028, as reported by Bain & Company. This growth is driving manufacturers to adopt AI and robotics to digitize processes and scale operations.
Ola Electric’s Digital Twin Platform
Ola Electric, a prominent player in India’s electric vehicle market, has developed the Ola Digital Twin (ODT) platform using NVIDIA Omniverse. This platform has significantly accelerated Ola’s production timeline, reducing the time from design to market by 20%. Built on NVIDIA Isaac Sim, the platform utilizes core Omniverse technologies for data interoperability and synthetic data generation, aiding in factory planning and quality inspection.
Reliance Industries’ Solar Gigafactory
Reliance Industries is leveraging Omniverse for planning its expansive solar panel factory in Jamnagar, India, as part of its commitment to achieve net-zero carbon status by 2035. The factory, designed to be India’s largest solar gigafactory, utilizes Omniverse for 3D data management, virtual collaboration, and operational optimization. Reliance is also developing virtual factory assets using Omniverse to facilitate simulations for logistics and workforce training.
Role of System Integrators
Major system integrators like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Tech Mahindra are pivotal in helping Indian manufacturers implement NVIDIA’s technology. TCS is working on digital twin solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and facilitate predictive maintenance. Additionally, TCS is using Omniverse to simulate autonomous vehicles and smart farming scenarios.
Tech Mahindra, on the other hand, is establishing a center of excellence focused on advancing AI applications in manufacturing. Utilizing NVIDIA Omniverse, the center aims to develop digital twins and physical AI applications across various sectors, including automotive and healthcare.
As the adoption of digital twin technology continues to grow, companies like Wipro and Infosys are also exploring solutions using NVIDIA’s AI stack, further expanding the reach of physical AI applications in India’s industrial landscape.
