AMD highlights AI-enabled and IP-driven solutions for broadcast and Pro AV at IBC 2026, advancing next-gen media workflows.

At IBC 2026, AMD is spotlighting its latest innovations in broadcast and Pro AV, emphasizing AI-enabled processing and IP-based workflows. The event, held from September 15-19 in Amsterdam, gathers leading OEMs, system integrators, and technology innovators to explore advancements in media infrastructure. AMD’s presence reinforces its commitment to supplying the silicon backbone for next-generation media systems.

AMD’s contributions at IBC revolve around key industry standards like IPMX, JPEG XS, and SMPTE ST 2110, alongside hybrid SDI/IP workflows. These technologies are critical for enabling lower-latency, scalable, and software-defined media infrastructures. The company is also focusing on AI-powered edge processing and long-lifecycle embedded platforms, catering to a media industry increasingly defined by its convergence of broadcast and IT.

A notable feature of this year’s IBC is the Accelerator Media Innovation Programme, which addresses pressing challenges in media and entertainment. AMD, in collaboration with HP, is sponsoring nine innovation projects, including initiatives in Agentic AI, immersive media, and 5G-enabled live production workflows. These efforts align with AMD’s strategy of positioning itself as a key enabler of cutting-edge content creation and distribution technologies.

Over the past year, AMD has intensified its focus on the broadcast and Pro AV sectors. At NAB 2026, it showcased its silicon powering modern studio infrastructure, while at ISE 2026, AMD debuted the Versal Prime Series Gen 2 SoC with integrated H.264/H.265 codecs and Spartan UltraScale+ FPGA demos. These developments highlight AMD’s role as a compute platform supplier, not a finished-equipment vendor, enabling OEMs to build custom solutions leveraging its adaptive SoCs, EPYC CPUs, and Radeon PRO GPUs.

The convergence of IP-based and AI-driven workflows across media verticals presents a substantial growth opportunity. AMD’s technologies underpin real-time multichannel 4K/8K processing, low-latency video pipelines, and AV-over-IP solutions, meeting the needs of broadcasters transitioning to more agile, software-defined infrastructures. For instance, Matrox Video utilizes AMD Zynq UltraScale+ adaptive SoCs for open-standard AV-over-IP products, and JOCDN achieved a 40% reduction in CPU usage with AMD EPYC processors for its CDN services.

For attendees at IBC 2026 evaluating their next-generation media projects, AMD offers direct access to its team and ecosystem partners. The company aims to help visitors navigate choices in IP-based workflows, edge AI solutions, and hybrid SDI/IP infrastructures.
