Tether Operations Limited, the prominent entity in the digital asset industry, has announced a strategic partnership with the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) aimed at advancing blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) education in Vietnam. This initiative, revealed on July 9, 2024, focuses on educating public stakeholders through a series of conferences and workshops, according to Tether.io.
Objectives of the Collaboration
The collaboration aims to foster knowledge-sharing and capacity-building within the blockchain industry. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, the VBA is instrumental in standardizing and promoting blockchain technology in Vietnam. The association is known for its educational events nationwide, which play a crucial role in advocating for blockchain education.
Vietnam’s Growing Crypto Landscape
In 2023, Vietnam ranked as the third-largest cryptocurrency gainer globally, following the U.S. and the UK, with nearly $1.18 billion in gains. Approximately 17% of the Vietnamese population owns or has cryptocurrencies, highlighting the nation’s significant engagement with digital assets. This widespread adoption is partly due to the use of crypto for accessing otherwise inaccessible banking services.
Key Initiatives and Programs
One of the major initiatives under this collaboration involves hosting five educational conferences in key cities such as Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. These events aim to educate communities about the potential of digital finance.
Additionally, Tether will support the VBA’s UniTour Program by developing educational content with the Academy of Blockchain and AI Innovation (ABAII). UniTour is a program designed for university and college students across Vietnam, aiming to ignite their passion for AI and blockchain technologies. Tether will also back VBA’s SwitchUp Accelerator program, offering guidance, support, and potential investments for Web3 projects and startups.

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “As a leading voice in blockchain adoption, the Vietnam Blockchain Association’s work aligns well with our mission to promote education in blockchain.
