Socios.com has announced a new partnership with the Brooklyn Nets. As one of the top crypto platforms for sports teams, Socios.com is an influence and rewards app that allows sports teams and players to connect with their fans.
The announcement by Socios.com marks the fourth such announcement in four days and welcomes the Brooklyn Nets to a network of major sporting teams that include FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, AC Milan, and Atlético Madrid.
Socios.com uses the $CHZ token, which fuels its platform and allows sports teams to engage with their fans. The platform uses fan tokens and has launched fan tokens for many of their existing sports teams. It seems that the Brooklyn Nets have opted not to use Fan tokens in their partnership with Socios.com however, likely due to the consideration of fan tokens as cryptocurrencies/securities by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. While regulation remains unclear in the US, sports clubs may be disinclined to create official tokens as of yet.
With the Nets as the latest NBA franchise to partner with Socios.com, the platform is increasingly taking the sporting world by storm. Michael Wandell, Chief Commercial Officer at BSE Global, commented on the partnership announcement:
“The Nets organization strives to align with innovative, disruptive brands and we found that in Socios.com,” said “We are looking forward to joining forces this year to develop new and unique ways to engage with our fans worldwide.”
Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Socios.com and Chiliz noted the rapid global expansion of the platform in an official statement:
“Four teams in four days – we are expanding in the U.S. at an incredible pace, adding huge globally recognized sporting brands all the time. A very warm welcome to the Nets. We can’t wait to get started and look forward to what’s to come.”
With some of the most prestigious sporting teams in the world on their roster, blockchain-driven fan engagement is proving to be incredibly popular, particularly following a turbulent time for sports teams during the global pandemic. As the industry grows, partnerships between blockchain providers and sports teams demonstrate the shift in entertainment and the intersection between technology and fan engagement.
