After getting into the crypto space by integrating crypto payments (and asking about DeFi), e-commerce platform Shopify is now positioning into the non-fungible token (NFT) market through a new partnership formed with blockchain firm GigLabs.

The partnership will see the GigLabs NFT App getting integrated into the Shopify App Store, enabling eligible Shopify Plus merchants to create and sell NFTs on their Shopify storefront, all in a matter of minutes of setting preferences, without requiring any prior experience in app development or blockchain.
“Our growing NFT app ecosystem demonstrates our commitment to offering merchants an accessible approach to selling digital assets directly through their Shopify stores,” shared Robleh Jama, Director of Product at Shopify. “We’re happy to welcome GigLabs to the Shopify NFT ecosystem to help merchants build unique commerce experiences through NFTs.” Jama adds.
The GigLabs NFT App is a user-friendly platform that offers merchants a suite of tools to create, manage, and sell NFTs. It also provides a secure storage solution for NFTs, as well as the ability to track sales and analytics data.

The two firms which Burns mentioned, BreakingT and Infinite Objects, represent the first two companies to launch NFTs using the GigLabs NFT App on Shopify. BreakingT is an NFT sales platform built to connect sports teams and athletes to their fans, while Infinite Objects provides prints of art videos.
The GigLabs NFT integration for Shopify is built on Flow, a fast, decentralized, and developer-friendly blockchain designed with a unique, multi-role architecture. The Flow blockchain features no-sharding scalability and ACID-compliant trading environments (ACID here stands for atomic, consistent, isolated, and durable). On the Flow blockchain alone, over 17 million individual NFTs have been minted, while over 10 million secondary market NFT sale transactions have been processed. There are currently over 2 million accounts on the proof-of-stake Flow protocol.
