The anticipation surrounding Shibarium, the layer-2 protocol under development by Shiba Inu’s team has grown immensely since the start of this month. The reason for this is the tentative date for the release of the protocol which is pegged at February 14, Valentine’s Day.
The Shibarium protocol has been tagged as a key component to drive many ecosystem adoption innovations. Besides being pitched as a major tool that will foster Shiba Inu’s ecosystem adoption, Shibarium is also tipped as a crucial innovation in the emerging Web3.0 world.
Shibarium is branded as the response of the Shiba Inu team to the scalability challenges of the Ethereum blockchain. Considering the fact that the Ethereum blockchain can only process about 15 transactions per second (TPS), it presents a limitation in usage. These limitations are often expressed in gaming, Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and Non-Fungible tokens (NFT) related transactions.
One of these limitations is the high transaction costs associated. The Ethereum blockchain works by users using their funds to bid in order to get their transactions prioritized by the validators. The higher the bid, the faster transactions are likely to be processed.
The advent of Shibarium will help put a stop to these as transactions will now generally be cheaper and faster. Shibarium will also join the tens of layer-2 protocols already helping to foster transactions on Ethereum prior to when the protocol will undergo the rest of the stages involved in its Proof-of-Stake (PoS) transition.
Although the anticipation for the launch of Shibarium has passed up to this point, the Shibarium team has not officially affirmed the date, thus increasing the suspense.

The primary goal of Shibarium is to foster a more enhanced use case on the Ethereum protocol for all members of the Shiba Inu community.
