Sei introduces a new framework for community-driven protocol evolution, enabling developers, validators, and users to propose and implement changes within the ecosystem.
The Sei Network has unveiled its latest initiative, the Sei Improvement Proposals (SIPs), a structured framework designed to facilitate community-driven protocol evolution. According to the official announcement from Sei, this new system mirrors the concept of Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) and Bitcoin Improvement Proposals (BIPs), providing a formalized pathway for stakeholders to propose, discuss, and implement changes within the Sei ecosystem.
What Are Sei Improvement Proposals?
SIPs serve as detailed design documents aimed at introducing new features or modifications to the Sei network. Each proposal includes comprehensive technical specifications and justifications, ensuring clarity on what is proposed, its significance, and the implementation process.
SIP Lifecycle
The progression of a SIP involves several key stages, starting from the idea stage, moving to draft, review, last call, final, implemented, and ultimately activated. This structured lifecycle ensures that each proposal undergoes rigorous community scrutiny and technical evaluation before being deployed on the Sei mainnet.
