Progressive Care, a Florida-based healthcare services company, announced today that it has started accepting bitcoin payments for its COVID-19 Rapid Resting services at its PharmcoRx locations.
Progressive Care Now Accepting BTC Payments
According to the company, the decision was made on the eve of Bitcoin 2021, the world’s largest Bitcoin Conference taking place in Miami this week. The event will attract over 50,000 visitors to Pharmco’s core marketplace in the Miami metropolitan area, most of which are tourists, the company said.
Alan Jay Weisberg, CEO and Chairman of Progressive Care, noted that the healthcare services company believes in “the future of blockchain technologies.”
“We want to extend our market-leading services in rapid COVID-19 testing solutions to those who prefer to pay through Bitcoin. This is an excellent alternative for post-pandemic tourists coming into our communities from abroad. We are happy to invite Bitcoin holders to our locations for all of their COVID-19 testing needs,” he added.
Progressive Care has created a QR code for payments with bitcoin to give customers a streamlined and user-friendly experience.
The COVID-19 Rapid Testing is offered by PharmcoRx, a subsidiary of Progressive Care. PharmcoRx started accepting crypto payments in 2018, making it the first pharmacy to offer crypto payment solutions for its pharmacy services. The company is now looking forward to expanding its commitment to its COVID-19 testing solutions.
While PharmcoRx’s COVID-19 PCR-based testing is currently required by most international airlines as a travel requirement, the company hopes to become the leading testing destination for Rapid COVID-19 Testing solutions across multiple industries including “Fortune 500 global entertainment companies, chain restaurants, corporate employers, and financial institutions.”
Growing Bitcoin Adoption
Since the start of this year, large companies and institutional clients worldwide have continued to adopt bitcoin either as a payment method or reserve asset.
Last month, Sheetz, a family-owned convenience store chain based in the U.S., announced that it will begin accepting bitcoin as a payment method.
In February, Portugal-based electricity retailer Luzboa said it was initiating the required technological adaptation procedures that will allow it to accept bitcoin payments from its customers.
