NVIDIA has announced a new initiative to support career development in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science through a series of self-paced, on-demand courses. The tech giant aims to equip professionals with the necessary skills to excel in these rapidly evolving fields, according to the NVIDIA Blog.
Opportunities in AI
AI’s impact is permeating nearly every industry, creating new career opportunities for professionals from diverse backgrounds. Lauren Silveira, a university recruiting program manager at NVIDIA, emphasized the importance of leveraging one’s unique education and experience in the AI field. She encouraged attendees to apply their diverse skills to make significant contributions to the industry.
Kevin McFall, a principal instructor at the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute, provided practical advice for those feeling overwhelmed by the vast landscape of AI. He recommended that professionals should not attempt to build everything from scratch but instead focus on integrating various resources to create comprehensive solutions.
The panelists highlighted the importance of utilizing available tools and resources to enhance one’s capabilities. NVIDIA offers a plethora of free software development kits, community resources, and specialized courses in areas like robotics, CUDA, and OpenUSD through the NVIDIA Developer Program.
Spinning a Network
Keeping up with the fast-paced technology industry requires more than just education and certifications. Networking plays a crucial role in professional growth. Sabrina Koumoin, a senior software engineer at NVIDIA, stressed the importance of engaging with like-minded peers and mentors. She advocated for sharing personal learning journeys and projects on social platforms like LinkedIn to build connections and gain inspiration.
David Ajoku, founder and CEO of Demystifyd and Aware.ai, also underscored the importance of a strong LinkedIn presence. He suggested a three-step strategy to enhance one’s LinkedIn profile: research desired companies, understand their mission and goals, and boldly share one’s career journey and aspirations.
Louis Stewart, head of strategic initiatives at NVIDIA, advised professionals to be intentional and purposeful in their career development. He emphasized that crafting a personal narrative and growth journey is as important as keeping certifications and skills up to date.
Deep Dive Into Learning
