MetaMask Celebrates 10 Million Monthly Active Users: 1800% Yearly Growth

Metamask wallet recently broke another personal record for growth and now has over ten million monthly active users of their wallet. In celebration, they will be hosting a party on Decentraland, coupled with a live stream of the event for those who can’t join.

Another Milestone for Metamask

After announcing their achievement on Tuesday, the popular wallet promised to host a 24-hour watch party on Decentraland to celebrate.

The party will feature a performance from twitch streamer, musician, and songwriter Mela Bee, an in-game wearable item by DappCraft, and a Proof-of-Attendance Protocol. The party will take place on September 2nd at 8 pm UTC.

Decentraland is an MMO game with decentralized ownership. calling itself “the first virtual world fully owned by its users.”

Besides traditional gaming activities like building villages and exploring dungeons, the game is also fully cryptocurrency-integrated, utilizing an ERC-20 token as the game’s native currency and requiring a wallet to play. This makes it a natural party destination for MetaMask– the predominant wallet for connecting various DeFi protocols.

MetaMask users are excited by the recent news, representing the company’s rapid growth – up 1800% by user count since last year.

Some less positive news – many users have noted an “influx of scam accounts” roleplaying as MetaMask tech support on Twitter as of late. Similar behavior from MetaMask bots was seen on Twitter in May, as reported by CryptoPotato. As always, the wariness of such malicious actors is advised.

Metamask’s Growth

Metamask’s user base has multiplied incredibly fast within just a year, now at 19X what it was in July 2020. It reached the 5 million user milestone in April and has since doubled that number within half a year.

The wallet’s rapid growth is in correlation with the rapid growth of the DeFi space. As MetaMask allows for the purchase and storage of Ethereum ERC-20 based DeFi tokens, along with other networks such as Binance Smart Chain (BSC), it has become a dependable gateway for those looking to invest in the space.
