- Kraken exchange has announced support for the Altair crowdloan, joining fellow global exchange OKEx which announced support earlier this month.
- Altair is spinning real-world assets into Kusama, letting users tokenize experimental assets on-chain, such as art NFTs and undiscovered assets.
Kraken, one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced support for the Altair crowdloan. Altair is a Kusama parachain built by Centrifuge, allowing users to spin real-world assets into Kusama. The exchange’s users will be able to stake their Kusama tokens (KSM) to the Altair slot and receive Altair tokens ($AIR) in return.

Named after one of the fastest spinning stars in the galaxy, Altair is a bridge from Centrifuge to Kusama. It gives its users the ability to tokenize real-world assets, from art NFTs to other undiscovered assets, and finance them on the Kusama network, which itself is an experimental development environment for developers before they deploy applications on Polkadot.
Centrifuge launched Altair a month ago, promising to change the face of DeFi and give risk-takers endless possibilities to change their lives. Altair allows users to experiment with new features before they go live on Centrifuge. In essence, Altair is to Centrifuge what Kusama is to Polkadot. At launch, Centrifuge promised to bridge across the Kusama, Polkadot and Ethereum ecosystems.
We are thrilled to announce Altair💫 Centrifuge’s @kusamanetwork Parachain, ready to take your assets interstellar.

Now, Kraken has announced support for Altair. Kraken users can securely participate in the crowdloan once it launches. The launched date will be announced soon, but users can register to show their interest in participating in the crowdloan.
Centrifuge Chain is set to host a crowdloan for DOT to bid for a parachain slot on Polkadot. Fellow DeFi platform Karura recently became the first project to win a Kusama parachain, after seeing over 500,000 KSM locked, worth over $100 million at current prices.
There are a few different ways that users can contribute to the Altair crowdloan. One of these is by contributing directly to the Altair crowdloan through the Kusama portal.
Users can also contribute through an exchange, as they will now be able to on Kraken. Earlier this month, yet another global exchange, OKEx, announced its support for the Altair crowdloan. OKEx users can stake Kusama tokens on the Altair slot to earn $AIR tokens.
For every Kusama token that’s contributed to the Altair crowdloan and locked for 48 weeks to secure the Altair parachain slot, at least 50 $AIR will be rewarded. This $AIR can either be claimed through the chosen exchange or directly on Altair.
