- Bitcoin Jesus Roger Ver has returned to Twitter one year after he quit it in yet another show of support for the Elon Musk takeover of the platform from the crypto community.
- Ver endorsed Dogecoin over Bitcoin in an interview with Bloomberg, criticized Michael Saylor for his Bitcoin maximalism, and claimed to still hold several cryptos.
Bitcoin Jesus is back! After a long absence from social media and even from crypto conferences where he was a regular speaker, Roger Ver has returned and in an interview, he showed his support for Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, hailed Doge and criticized Bitcoin, and called out Michael Saylor and his kind for spreading “techno-bubble nonsense.”
Ver got the moniker ‘Bitcoin Jesus’ for his devotion to Bitcoin which was almost evangelical-like. He lived up to his name, spreading the gospel of Satoshi during most of Bitcoin’s early years when it was limited to tech nerds on the Internet. When Bitcoin eventually broke out, Ver continued with his Satoshi evangelism, being one of the ever-present speakers in crypto events and an early investor in quite a few of today’s multi-billion dollar crypto companies such as Ripple and the $14-billion-valued Blockchain.com.

Bitcoin Jesus is one of many crypto enthusiasts that have either come back to Twitter or have praised Elon Musk’s takeover. Brian Armstrong, the Coinbase CEO is also a huge fan, saying, “Elon buying twitter is a great win for free speech, and probably changes the trajectory of the world more than most people realize.”
Ver believes the move is a great leap for the social media platform, telling Bloomberg in an interview on Thursday:
It’ll certainly make Twitter more attractive. I am really, really grateful that Musk is out there calling out censorship.
Bitcoin Jesus now favors Dogecoin
Despite being called Bitcoin Jesus and supporting BTC fervently in its early days, Ver fell out with the top crypto in 2017 and together with others who favored bigger blocks for faster and cheaper transactions, split off as Bitcoin Cash. As he now says, anything is better than BTC, including Dogecoin.
Dogecoin is significantly better. It’s cheaper and more reliable. If I had to pick three contenders [for the world’s dominant cryptocurrency], they would be Doge, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash.
And despite his roots in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash, Ver says that he has always held several cryptocurrencies at once.
“I am definitely a cryptocurrency whale still,” he told Bloomberg. “I’ve always had a wide assorted basket in cryptocurrency. I was never a Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash maximalist.”
In his interview, he also took a swipe at Michael Saylor, the Microstrategy CEO who has become the embodiment of BTC maximalism. Saylor elicits love and hate in almost equal measure, with BTC fans adoring him while many others loathe his stand against altcoins.
Ver is not a fan. He stated:
He [Saylor] talks about how Bitcoin is encrypted packets — it’s techno-bubble nonsense.
