Web3 wallet XDEFI has announced a major rebranding effort to become Ctrl, a new non-custodial wallet that will simplify onboarding and improve user experience. This transition seeks to make it easier for millions of users to enter the web3 environment and start their on-chain journey smoothly.
Ctrl: A New Era for Non-Custodial Wallets
XDEFI will be rebranded as Ctrl (pronounced Control), along with the release of the next-generation Ctrl wallet. Presently, more than 90% of cryptocurrency consumers do not use on-chain services. Ctrl has been deliberately created to transform the user experience provided by non-custodial wallets, allowing cryptocurrency holders to easily explore DeFi and web3 potential.
XDEFI CEO Emile Dubié highlights the importance of self-custody, saying, “I believe self-custody is a fundamental right, and as wallet providers, we have a responsibility to make it accessible and secure for everyone.”

Bridging the Gap Between Web2 and Web3
Ctrl addresses the issues with existing web3 wallets by combining familiar web2 functionalities. By eliminating the need to pay for petrol on each chain, Ctrl provides frictionless onboarding and a considerably improved user experience. Notably, Ctrl integrates more blockchains than any other web3 wallet, with 1,800 networks included.
The wallet uses social login, which eliminates the need for seed phrase storage by allowing safe authentication via Google or social media accounts.
This functionality will make it easier for users to securely communicate on-chain and benefit from economic opportunities across hundreds of blockchains. Furthermore, Ctrl simplifies multi-wallet administration and eliminates the need for gas tokens.
Beta Launch and Future Prospects
The Ctrl wallet will go into beta in August, giving early adopters the opportunity to explore its impressive capabilities. The public can join the waiting list for the mobile beta at Ctrl.xyz.
Existing XDEFI wallet users, as well as new users who have installed XDEFI, will have their wallets immediately upgraded to Ctrl when it launches. Furthermore, the XDEFI token will be changed to CTRL at a 1:1 ratio in the future.
