The fraudulent activities have been reported to the HKMA and a link to the concerned press release has been made available on their website.

The HKMA’s Advice to the Public

The HKMA advises the public that banks do not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing them to the banks’ websites for transactions. Neither do they ask customers for sensitive personal information, such as login passwords or One-Time Password, via phone, email, or SMS (including via embedded hyperlinks).

Individuals who have provided their personal information or conducted any financial transactions through or in response to the concerned website or emails should immediately contact Tai Sang Bank using the contact information provided in the press release. Additionally, they should report the matter to the Police by contacting the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.

Cybersecurity Measures Amid Increasing Online Frauds

As the number of online frauds continues to surge, the HKMA has been actively issuing alerts to ensure the safe online practices of the public. This recent alert serves as a reminder for individuals to remain cautious and vigilant when dealing with online banking transactions and communication.

HKMA continues to work collaboratively with relevant authorities to combat such activities and ensure the safety and security of the online banking environment in Hong Kong.
