IOTA’s GoShimmer protocol is created as a prototype node software that looks into the implementation of IOTA 2.0. IOTA 2.0 is expected to be launched this year and will operate as a fully decentralized distributed ledger protocol with the ability to handle more than payments. As expected, the platform would process transactions instantly without delay. According to reports, it can provide scalability for 10,000 nodes and 1000 MPs.
Today, a very important update has been released on GoShimmer, ConflictDAG-PR, and IOTAcore. This was shared by a Twitter account identified as ID.iota.

According to the account, a look into the GoShimmer GitHub shows that only a few changes have been made. Per the information available, developers are still implementing test cases and APIs for the conflict of ConflictDAG-PR. This is to ensure that it is properly working with the rest of the data flow. The post shows a screenshot where Research Engineer Jonas Theis confirms that the first test has been run on ConflictDAG and it seems to be stable now. The next thing to do is to adjust all components or tests that use ConflictDAG to adhere to the new APIs.
In addition, the developers would finish some loose ends. However, its main focus is to stabilize it.
GoShimmer remains a feature complete with the new ConflictDAG. To summarize: The ConflictDAG Refactor is working and seems to be more stable. Now the new ConflictDAG is being integrated into the protocol data flow and all internal interfaces are adjusted accordingly.
IOTA is fully set with implementation on IOTAcore
According to ID.iota, the team might be looking for other ways to increase protocol stability before the MVP is released. For now, the Refactor testing is not ongoing. It is also stated that IOTAcore would play a huge role in the GoShimmer implementation. Firstly, it will bring Coordicide to Shimmer, then later to IOTA.
Concerning the IOTA-core, Theis disclosed that the team is implementing the StardustVM (ledger) onto the core protocol. Stardust output type is very important as its addition unlocks all the functionalities like NFT, Token, etc.
Following that, the team will continue to add the accounts of all the stuff related to staking and voting. In the meantime, we will likely also see protocol upgrades on chain-switching, conflict handling, etc. The plans aren’t fully defined yet and might change in the future…At least on GitHub, we can see that the efforts are really taking off… A lot of PRs are merged and a lot of Commits are pushed to the development branch. That’s it for this update. I am still hoping for an MVP release in April but let’s wait for an update from the team.
