- The TON Foundation has announced the release of the Bridge to Ethereum blockchain.
- The Unlimited Bridge as it is called has been security proofed by trusted partners.
The Ethereum (ETH) blockchain network is expanding its reach to new ecosystems as Telegram linked protocol, The Open Network (TON) has launched an Ethereum bridge that can aid the easy transfer of digital currencies to and from both networks.
According to the TON Foundation, the bridge will facilitate the transfer of ERC-20 tokens into the TON ecosystem where they will be converted and wrapped to fungible tokens dubbed (Jettons). According to the Press Release, the new bridge has been marked as one of the most ambitious milestones in the evolution of the TON blockchain.
“We are delighted with the introduction of this two-way bridge, the first unlimited bridge to go live on TON,” said Justin Hyun, Head of Incubation at TON Foundation. “We anticipate that this bridge will bring a host of new users to the TON ecosystem. By entering into closer proximity with other layer one blockchains through such bridges, our users will experience the advantages that TON holds over its competitors.”
In its description of the capabilities of the new Unlimited Bridge, the TON Foundation said only 4 digital tokens will be supported at this time. These tokens include Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC), Tether tokens (USDt), USD Coin (USDC) and Dai (DAI). As the bridge gets more embrace and traction, the TON Foundation hopes to expand the total tokens permissible in the Bridge.
Charting the Safety of the TON Ethereum Bridge
The TON – Ethereum Bridge was launched to brandish the most advanced security possible in the industry. Prior to its launch, the TON Foundation said it “invited white hat hackers to test the security integrity of the unlimited bridge through a hackathon in 2022.”
While the White hat hackers certified the integrity of the bridge, more advanced blockchain security outfits including CertiK and Quantstamp have also affirmed the high security wall powering the bridge.
“Audits from CertiK, а smart contract auditor, Quantstamp, a specialist auditor in the blockchain space, and Hexens, a smart contract auditor, have been made on the bridge, with validators voting on its formation. CertiK and Quantstamp have conducted end-to-end audits on the TON blockchain,” the TON Foundation said.

While operating as a standalone blockchain protocol, the move by the TON protocol to merge with the Ethereum blockchain is a mutually beneficial one for both blockchain networks and as users of both protocols can now access liquidity from different DApps covering the blockchain outfits.
The TON Foundation, known for its thoughtful products and offers, however, noted that the Bridge is not completely safe, a disclaimer that was issued in order to help its users stay cautious on how they utilize the bridge. With many exploits of presumably safe bridges including that of the Ronin Bridge of the Axie Infinity protocol last year, such warning will better help prepare its users for any form of inconsistencies.
