Circle will discontinue USDC and CCTP V1 support on Noble, urging users to migrate before January 12, 2027. Here’s what you need to know.

Circle, the issuer of the $74.31 billion market cap USDC stablecoin, announced it will discontinue support for USDC and the legacy version of its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP V1) on the Noble blockchain. The transition is part of Circle’s broader migration to CCTP V2, which boasts faster transaction finality and enhanced security. However, Noble will not support the upgraded protocol.

The decision sets key deadlines for users. New minting of USDC on Noble via Circle Mint will be disabled starting October 13, 2026. Redemptions will remain available until January 12, 2027, after which USDC on Noble will be fully paused. A manual redemption portal will open on January 13, 2027, for users unable to migrate before the deadline. Institutional and self-custody USDC holders are encouraged to move funds via centralized exchanges, decentralized swaps, or CCTP V1 burns to other supported chains before functionality winds down.

Circle’s move reflects its ongoing pivot toward next-generation blockchain interoperability. CCTP V2, already live on select chains, aims to streamline cross-chain USDC transfers across both EVM and non-EVM networks. However, the exclusion of Noble from this upgrade may signal a strategic realignment of Circle’s priorities within the Cosmos ecosystem. Despite the phase-out, Circle reaffirmed its commitment to Cosmos, highlighting partnerships with Injective and other Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC)-connected chains.

For Noble users, the migration timeline begins immediately. Circle Mint customers can continue operations as usual until October 12, 2026, after which minting will be disabled but redemptions will persist. From October 31, 2026, burn limits for CCTP V1 will gradually decrease, further restricting liquidity options. By December 1, 2026, exits may be limited to chains that still support CCTP V1 burns. Circle plans to publish a shortlist of exit venues to assist users in migrating their funds.

Circle’s broader business momentum continues to underscore USDC’s role in institutional finance. Recent developments include Circle’s planned acquisition of Singapore-based payments platform Tazapay and an expansion of its partnership with BNY Mellon, which now offers digital asset custody services for USDC. These moves align with Circle’s goal of positioning USDC as the leading interoperable digital dollar.

USDC remains stable as of September 10, 2026, trading near its $1 peg with negligible price fluctuation (+0.0113%). While the Noble deprecation shows Circle tightening its ecosystem focus, it also underscores the importance of users proactively managing their holdings to avoid liquidity constraints as deadlines approach.

Users holding USDC on Noble should act promptly to ensure their funds are migrated or redeemed ahead of the January 12, 2027, pause. For further guidance, Circle advises consulting its Help Center or customer care team.
