The $3.5 figure sounds substantial until it is measured against what LAPTOP has already lost. Onchain data puts the token near $0.38, with a market capitalization of roughly $140 million and a fully diluted valuation of about $389 million. The coin set an all-time high of $199.51, set on Sept. 9, barely two hours into trading. The token is down 99.8% from that mark.
Bitcoin.com News reported that LAPTOP imploded 98% in 90 minutes on launch day, sliding from $199 to $1.36 before settling near $2.54. It has fallen roughly another 85% since. Daily volume of about $22 million against a $140 million cap tells the rest of the story.
In a statement posted after the crash, the project’s dev team blamed predatory sniper bots and thin liquidity for the crash rather than insider selling. They noted:
“You should not expect us or anyone else to make this token more valuable for you.”
Automated snipers routinely buy new tokens within milliseconds, and a launch with shallow liquidity is the environment they are built for.
Why the Politics Keep the Coin Alive
Because burns are triggered by public attention, anyone with a large enough platform can move LAPTOP’s supply simply by naming it. Eric Trump and Beeple did not buy the token, endorse it, or comment on its economics. They mentioned it, and $3.56 million of supply disappeared.
That creates a strange incentive structure around a coin launched as a direct shot at Trump by a man who has recently become one of crypto’s louder converts. Hunter Biden went viral earlier this month calling fiat a sham, and the memecoin followed days later.
Twenty-eight prediction slots remain, holding the bulk of the 30% allocation. Each one is a scheduled supply event waiting on a political outcome, and several are tied to the November midterms rather than to anything a celebrity says.
