Robinhood (HOOD) Sees Mixed Results in August 2025 Operating Data

In its latest release, Robinhood Markets, Inc. (NASDAQ: HOOD) disclosed its operating metrics for August 2025, featuring both growth and challenges across various segments. The Menlo Park-based company reported a total of 26.7 million funded accounts, reflecting a slight decrease from the previous month but a year-over-year increase of approximately 2.4 million accounts. This growth was somewhat tempered by the escheatment of around 180,000 low-balance accounts, according to globenewswire.com.

Asset Growth and Trading Volumes

Robinhood’s total platform assets surged to $304 billion, marking a 2% rise from July 2025 and a significant 112% increase year-over-year. Net deposits for August reached $4.8 billion, representing a 19% annualized growth rate compared to the previous month. Over the past twelve months, net deposits totaled $61.6 billion, indicating a 43% growth from August 2024 levels.

Equity trading volumes, however, saw a 5% decline from July 2025, totaling $199.2 billion, though this still marked a 107% increase from the previous year. Options trading remained stable month-on-month, with 195.5 million contracts traded, up 33% from August 2024. Crypto trading on the Robinhood app fell by 18% from July 2025 to $13.7 billion, while Bitstamp Exchange crypto trading volumes rose by 21% to $14.4 billion.

Financial Highlights

Robinhood’s margin balances grew by 10% from the previous month, reaching $12.5 billion, and soared by 127% year-over-year. Total cash sweep balances also increased to $34.1 billion, a 1% rise from July 2025 and a 50% increase year-over-year. Despite these gains, securities lending revenue in August saw a decline of 13% from July 2025, amounting to $53 million, though it represented a 165% rise compared to the previous year.
