Sky Mavis has finally pulled the emergency brake. Their partnership with the 0x& team, the developer of Ragnarok: Monster World, has officially ended. Not without reason—Sky Mavis felt betrayed after news emerged that 0x& had secretly entered into an agreement with another blockchain.
In fact, an exclusive partnership had been established and the existing agreement required all strategic plans to be communicated in advance.
Sky Mavis Revokes Backing Amid Trust Issues
Aleksander Larsen, one of the founders of Sky Mavis, revealed that the 0x& team was considered to have not followed directions. The Ronin community is also said to have started to lose trust in this project. As a result, all forms of support from Sky Mavis were revoked.
The game will no longer be promoted, and even its NFTs have now been removed from the Ronin Market. Although it can still be traded outside, its official support has clearly been crossed out. Furthermore, the 0x& team’s plan to launch the ZENY token was also not recognized by Sky Mavis.
However, 0x&’s version is different. They say there is nothing to hide. According to their claims, all discussions with external parties have been conveyed to Sky Mavis since February 2024. They also emphasized that no contracts have been violated. But yes, when two versions of the story have emerged, the public is usually quicker to believe the party that spoke up first.
Decision Taken Amid Ecosystem Expansion
Interestingly, this decision to end the relationship came at a time when Sky Mavis was quite busy developing the Ronin network.
On the other hand, as we previously reported, they have launched the beta version of the Ronin Web Wallet. Through this browser extension, users can manage their digital assets more easily. This is a kind of more practical entry point, especially for the growing Axie Infinity community.
Furthermore, Sky Mavis is also preparing to release a new MMO game called Axie Infinity: Atia’s Legacy. Scheduled for release next year, this game will focus on a real-time combat system, PvE missions, and crafting features.
Players can form squads, strengthen characters, and even hang out together in the social hub. Just imagine if you could join missions while chatting casually like playing with friends at an internet cafe.
Not only that, they also collaborated with Fishing Frenzy, a casual game that now has more than 50,000 daily active players. Sky Mavis stepped in with investment, marketing assistance, and performance-based incentives. This is not formal assistance, but a real step to grow the ecosystem.
If we go back a little to January, Sky Mavis had announced a relock of around 75% of the RON tokens that had previously been opened. The goal? So that the ecosystem remains stable and strong in the long term. The tokens now follow a new vesting schedule of two years.
